Andromeda/Perseus is one of my favorite myths so I took the liberty of writing it up from my essay.
Andromeda was the daughter of King Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Her mother bragged that Andromeda was more beautiful than the Nernaids (sea nymphs) so the Nernaids complained to Poseidon. Poseidon sent the sea monster, Cetus to destroy the lands of Ethiopia. as a punishment to Cassiopeia’s arrogance. The King sought out advice on how to keep his land from being destroyed, the Oracle said the only way was to sacrifice his daughter to Cetus. Andromeda was chained to a rock and left to be eaten by Cetus. Luckily, Perseus came to save her and he came on the Pegasus. He killed Cetus by turning him to stone with Medusa’s head and asked for Andromeda for her hand in marriage. At the wedding Andromeda’s uncle, Phineus which she had promised to marry, came to claim her. But Perseus turned him to stone with Medusa’s head. They had six sons and a daughter. After, her death she was placed in the sky by Athena.
