Flashback

Mir is in smoke and fire. Fiern is too. Hecrata has just been attacked, and so that is done. Many, many cities and villages are being burnt to ashes. All my homes have been destroyed. It seems like the apocalypse.

Along with memories and homes, people have been destroyed, too. They give no mercy, whoever “they” is. I have died inside. Fourteen years ago, when I was a newborn baby, my mother died. And now…

Fa Treh is dead.

My eyes flew open. Then I closed them quickly again, because a bright light – the sun – flooded my eyes and burnt them. When my eyes recovered, I opened my eyes and sat up.

I had been lying on the ground, which was covered in ashes and bits of rubbles and surviving objects.

They had been here.

But where was I? I looked around and saw that I was in the middle of a street. This city was eerily quiet, unlike the terrified screams that people would have let out when they saw that their whole city was on fire.

This city was in ruins. Everything had been engulfed by flames and turned to charcoal ruins.

No mercy…

I turned around to look the other way, and saw a hill. With a castle on top.

This was Mir.

I let out a cry. I remembered the pain I had been given when I knew it had been destroyed.

I stood up, and decided that first, I would see if Snowflake had survived, and then I would check the house, and then go into the castle.

Walking into the stables, I looked down to see what I was wearing. Ah. It seemed I was wearing my pyjamas. Then I looked up to see Snowflake on the ground, and I ran over to her and rested my head on her body and quietly sobbed. This just wasn’t fair!

After about half an hour, I walked into the house. Everything was burnt, except for our fireproof safe that Fa Treh and I won in a competition once. Thank you, great brushes and canvas!

I rushed to open it, and inside there were some photos of my mother, my father and me. Also there was some food and clothes, and a dagger and a sword, plus a bow and quiver.

I took them all and packed them into a backpack which was also in the safe, dressed, looked at the photos, and set off for Lian’s Castle.

When I got there, I heard a scream and ran into the throne room, where two heavily muscled men were carrying Queen Lian away. Luckily, they didn’t see me.

I kept my back against the corner of the wall, peeking back to see when the right time was.

… Now!

I jumped out from behind the wall and kicked the first man’s head (I am flexible). He only wheezed a minor wheeze.

Uh-oh.

They really were angry. They  dropped Queen Lian on the floor, and I got out my sword. They laughed and said:

“What is a little girl like you doing with a big sword like that?” the second man said in a baby’s voice.

“This.”

I striked at them, but they dodged.

“Aww. Poor little girl doesn’t know how to use a sword.”

He was half-right, actually. I’d gone a little rusty on my skills. I striked again, but they dodged again. I tried light, but I had lost my power over that. Oh no. I was doomed.

They punched their fists into their hands and said, “Let’s give this little girl a lesson that wittle girl doesn’t try to kill big man!”

I thought about Mi Sayan and Fa Treh. I thought about Snowflake. I thought about the lives lost, the memories and homes in ruins. And suddenly I was engulfed in rage.

I let out a yell and kicked the first man in his crotch. He fell to the ground with a much bigger wheeze.

The second man held me. Oops. Should’ve thought ahead.

He had me in a headlock. I powered up my rage, directed it to one spot. And then I threw the man down on the ground. Hard.

So now, they were taken care of. Where was Queen Lian, though? Oh well. I checked the Window room to see if it was still there. It was, but in broken glass. There was one piece that was a perfect small rectangle, and the Window had resized to fit on that. I tucked it into my pocket and walked out of the castle and onto the hill to fly away. Then I realised my wings were gone.

I looked at my hands, trying to get the Katawa Flash. I did, and was blue and white stripes. That meant… I had winter powers? Well, it wasn’t that all surprising, because my name was Winter. Winter powers were snow, tiny tornados, clouds, ice and, to finish it up, the power to take away heat (I would just say ‘the cold’, but there is no such thing as the cold. There is only heat, and you take away heat to make things cold).

Well then. Winter powers weren’t very powerful, and along with that, I didn’t have any transport or anywhere to go. What was to happen?

Suddenly I heard a scream that rang around all of Mir.

YES, I AM TRYING TO GET THE BATTLES STUFF GOING AGAIN. I think my previous adventures were boring, so I started again. Yeah, I have Winter powers now! :D Okay, bye!
